Help with Email Alerts

Postby sdewar » 07 Nov 2010

Hi - I have tried to send alerts via several email accounts I have (Gmail, Yahoo (basic not plus) & Comcast) and I can't get any of them to work. I believe I am putting in the right settings for all three as I googled the settings. Just so I know where to focus in on can someone let me know whether they have any of these 3 providers successfully sending out alerts from MC?

And if so can someone let me know their settings.

I have tried disabling my Windows Firewall (XP 64 bit) and my Anti-virus (AVG Free) but still no joy.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Dear sdewar,

You should use e-mail account without SSL encryption.

Hi sdewar,
Gmail requires SSL encryption enabled on your end; hence can't be used.

As an alternative try using some other e-mail service, which does not require SSL encryption.
GMX Mail is one (and free): http://www.gmx.com/

Pavel

sdewar,

Also ask your internet provider whether it blocks third party SMTP servers on port 25 or not.
GMX free Mail provides an alternative SMTP port 587, which helps to solve the problem.
