How do I download/install software? [SOLVED]

Hello, I have a lifetime license for MultiCharts but have not used the software in a while. I have tried to re-download the software from the website but have been unsuccessful. I have tried going to MultiCharts >> Download and it requires a User ID which I don't know what that is. I've tried to go ...

Re: Questions on Portfolio Tester

But I still don't understand how is the acct. size required calculated, exactly? Which variables are incorporated from symbol settings? What is the formula? You said it was only applicable to futures markets? What is "account multiplication"? Also, you didn't mention average annual return / CAGR (us...

Re: Questions on Portfolio Tester

Hi Henry Thanks for the reply. Maybe I am a bit of a noob to futures trading. May I ask, if you buy for example, 2 futures contracts each which require 5,000 overnight margin - how is this translated into money you need into your account? If the contract value value doesn't change, do you need $5,00...

Questions on Portfolio Tester

See the attached pic highlighting my questions. How is the "Account Size Required" calculated? And is there a way to circumvent required account size in live trading perhaps by trading mini/micro futures instead of full sized contracts? Also does the portfolio tester include average annual % return ...

Re: Strategy backtesting a with tick or minute resolution

How would I program my strategy to execute using daily bars while keeping the resolution at 1 minute? Otherwise it will try to execute using the last (for example) 150 minute bars where I want it to execute using the last 150 daily bars, just using minute bars to check information about the where th...

Re: Strategy backtesting a with tick or minute resolution

Thanks for your reply. I have strategies which run on daily charts (ie donchian breakout, etc), however, I would like to test incorporating all data on lower resolutions in order to accurately quantify where the stop losses occurred, etc. and have a better feel for how this daily chart strategy woul...

Strategy backtesting a with tick or minute resolution

Hello, how would I backtest a daily bar strategy (in portfolio backtester) on multiple instruments with tick / minute / second resolution? Thanks in advance

Re: Pyramiding Orders w/unique stops & current acct balance

SELL <AMOUNT> CONTRACT TOTAL FROM <"ENTRY LABEL"> NEXT BAR AT <PRICE LEVEL> STOP; Actually placing a price with each order where it would exit would be much easier than manually telling it to exit this many contracts as was done above, because with the implementation above I will have to recognize ...

Re: Pyramiding Orders w/unique stops & current acct balance

Thanks for the info. viking, looks like MC does not support the functionality I described in terms of multiple pyramid entries / and a unique stop loss for each one.

Re: Pyramiding Orders w/unique stops & current acct balance

MC is in its 7th iteration and still is severely lacking in order execution and order management. In theory with auto-trading software I should be able to (at least emulate) any sequence of manual orders with a broker (simply and robustly), and ideally automate those orders seamlessly through a brok...

Pyramiding Orders w/unique stops & current acct balance

Hello all, is it possible to pyramid orders w/unique stops in MC (not all exiting at once), and if so, how do you recommend to do so? Also, my stops are based on Acct equity (ie while portfolio testing a result of my trades at the time), volatility (ATR), and are a % of overall equity. My question i...

Obtaining account equity from IB and trade management?

For designing strategies for automated execution at IB, how would I obtain account equity at this broker (as I need this information to calculate position sizes for orders)? Also, how are orders tracked and managed? I know that MT4 (which I'm familiar with) uses OrderMagicNumbers to track orders (i....

Question placing orders with EasyLanguage / MultiCharts

Hello all, is there a simple guide that explains how to, say, place a buy stop order which expires at a certain time or # of bars in the future (instead of after the next bar), has a set stop loss price where the trade is exited, and a take profit price where the trade is exited, and is sized accord...

I'm not sure if it is already implemented (I'm a new user), but I would like to see a feature where you can drag your cursor between any two positions in the chart and see the up-and-down distance of price movement represented.
