If the moderator of this forum ban this topic before I get any clear public answers to my legitimate questions, then the logic conclusion would be that nobody could trust MultiCharts.

Currency convertion server(s) ? [SOLVED]

Hi! There isn't much detail on your "Currency Convertion Server", how does it work? Why is there so much difference between rates? : In the strategy perf report, a 249JPY trade (no bid/ask) is converted into $2.22! (Today, 249 JPY = $2.4189). Where does it takes its convertion rate from? When does i...

Re: 1 minute chart : how to print the high of the day? [SOLVED]

I tried highd(0) but it doesn't seem to work: the indicator says "calculating..." indefinitely and when I check the %cpu used by multicharts, it is at 0% !?
Same for highd(1)
Any idea what's wrong?
Thanks!

1 minute chart : how to print the high of the day? [SOLVED]

Hi!
I have a 1 minute chart.
I can easily print the high of each bar this way:

Code: Select all

if currentbar = 1 then ClearPrintLog;
print(datetimetostring(datetime_bar_update)," high=",h:10:5);
...but how can I print the high of the current day? and the high of the previous day?
Thanks!

Re: SLOW PortFolio Trader (No Multithreading implemented!) [SOLVED]

They say: "During backtesting only one core can be used, because the process is sequential, i.e. it depends on previous results to obtain a result at a later date. It cannot be split up into multiple cores". I disagree, if you have several different strategies, each of them having their own data + t...

Re: Slippage settings in Portfolio Trader

In many ways, slippage is COMPARABLE TO MARGIN which is defined in QuoteManager. Slippage should be removed from the strategy hard-coded parameters. It makes NO SENSE to assume the same slippage for all markets! Concerning COMMISSIONS, tell me what you see: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/inde...

Re: Slippage settings in Portfolio Trader

MC gives you all the freedom to model slippage to as much accuracy as you desire in your backtest. "to model" = to write additional code in EVERY strategy... in addition to the slippage parameter in the strategy settings!? This isn't an easy/convenient task for most users. This is why I said that s...

Re: Slippage settings in Portfolio Trader

This is a feature rather than a flaw. Slippage needs to be a function of liquidity and not instrument. There are many models of liquidity. MC places no restrictions on how you choose to model liquidity and consequently the slippage in your backtest. Slippage not only depends on liquidity!!! There a...

I believe slippage should be configurable in the QuoteManager per instrument and/or modifiable/editable from the code.
