Yosnappyj, thanks for the math work above. In a time-based chart you can find the broken candle ratio by dividing the length of the session break, namely 24, by the chart resolution. In the graphic posted above it's important to note that, in the "crunched candle" section, no candles were removed and there is no data loss - SBC's were simply merged with neighboring candles to help in visualizing what a low or non-SBC chart would look like. It's true that a previous version of MCFX inserted gaps between candles at the locations of session breaks. (The trader in question however was definitely talking about the truncated candle issue. I am using Gain and seams to better. Some gaps on fxcm where not present in gain. You have to change the port : file/preferences/logon options. Change the port from 8000 to 9000. Close mcfx, be sure that all the processes have ended, restart mcfx. So port 8000 is for fxcm and 9000 for gain capital....

DailyFX.com is telling me that EUR/USD is at 1.2965 and my brokers quotes are even higher, 1.2968/69. MCFX is still reading 1.2960 and seems to have quite moving... It's 12:30 am on Tuesday.

The two back up systems tend to be pretty similar (a pip or 2 difference) but the MCFX charts have gaps all over the place, price not reaching the same level (10's of pips out) etc. The free data from InterbankFX (MT4) and Oanda (java) makes this paid service look like a joke. From what I understand, they intend to eliminate the gaps in future versions of MCFX. But I also am perplexed as to why anyone would want to see the session breaks (as gaps) in a chart to begin with.
