Python.NET

Hi, I read an old post on the forum about how to code in iron python and get it to work in Multicharts. Henry gave a very good answer. Now that iron python is pretty much outdated and python.NET has taken over as the main instance of python for use in the .NET world, can I ask the question about how...

Re: Quandl data support in MultiCharts

+1 for Quandl as a datafeed into Multicharts

I use CQG/AMP for futures data and the lack of a continuous contract for daily charts is a pain

Re: Is there a way to have a trend line flashing [SOLVED]

As I discovered myself today, you can have an indicator that you turn on & off from the status line and have it retain its values whilst it is off by using global variables to store the settings. Using that workaround you can build an indicator to draw those high and low trendlines and then click it...

Re: Switching Off indicators and Retaining Values ? [SOLVED]

Global Variables is amazing !

I can't believe how simple it was to achieve this by just creating a couple of globalvariables in the one indicator.

I assume they are held in GV memory until I exit MC.

This is great :)

Switching Off indicators and Retaining Values ? [SOLVED]

Hi, Thanks in advance for any help on this one. I'd like to know if you can retain calculated values in an indicator when you switch it off (via the status line click) and then back on again a few minutes later. I was wondering if a way to achieve this was via some form of global variable database b...

Re: Status line: Is there a way to sort the info [SOLVED]

I agree that's great for where instruments have the same settings for a study but if they do not have the same setting you then need to go into the individual study and change them as appropriate for that instrument. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other as to which you get the workspace set...

Re: Status line: Is there a way to sort the info [SOLVED]

However, you cannot move the individual studies you have showing up or down through that method :(

I find the only way to do that is to delete studies and then reinsert them in the order I wish them to appear on the status line.

Workspace Tab Colors

Hi, I currently have a lot of workspaces and was wondering if anyone or MC has discussed introducing colors for workspace tabs in the same way that MS Excel allows a user to set the color of each individual worksheet tab. For example, this would help me quickly locate a workspace with tick charts ov...

Re: MC on OS X

And right on cue.... Parallels announces another upgrade with the same spin and same price as last year: - 50% faster - upgrade $49.99 http://www.parallels.com/au/upgradepd10/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=pd9u&utm_campaign=pd10launch I wonder what statistical proof they have for 50% faster. I will be...

Welcome to the world of Macs !

I highly recommend the magic trackpad over any mouse.

I mark up all my charts and it's quicker and more accurate than the trackball I use on my windows machine

Re: Most Stable API

Yes, the CQG connection is stable in MC 9.0 beta 2 I have three connections at present: IB (both live and sim) CQG via AMP (both live and demo) Rithmic via Vision (demo) CQG and Rithmic appear stable. IB has days where you do get several drop outs and days on end where all is fine. I upgraded TWS la...

I do understand your point in reference to the java app used to connect to Interactive Brokers.

That does worry me regularly when I have real money on the line

Re: Simtrading with live data?

MATricks, I signed up for the VIsion demo you recommended but I think you should point out to others that it (via Rithmic) has no historical intraday tick data beyond the current day.

For me, that is a no go, since I rely on tick data for all my strategies.

For that reason, I'll stick with CQG.

Re: MC on OS X

I'm not on my main mac as I am overseas at the moment. My travelling one is a laptop (macbook pro retina) and there are certainly tasks that cause it to spin its fans to max including certain MC activities. It makes me optimise all code I build so that it does not tax the system unduly. However, my ...

Re: MC on OS X

I've been using MC 8 and 9 on Parallels 8 and now 9 and it is stable. However, I do not appreciate Parallels' yearly upgrade fees, which are nearly as much as buying the product outright. It's essential to be able to rely on your windows system if you're using a mac so they have us between a rock an...

Re: MULTICHARTS 9.0 BETA 2

Hi, Thanks for fixing most of the bugs in the scanner with beta 2. One bug persists. With an indicator, if you set it in indicator properties or via format indicator to have eg no decimal places in the style for one or more plots the scanner does not retain this setting when you next launch the scan...

Re: MULTICHARTS 9.0 BETA 1

My comments so far. 1. It does seem quicker and less cpu intensive so thanks for that. I also appreciate the changes made to volume delta, and the right click option to remove visible drawings - a great time saver. 2. My problems are in the scanner area. a) where I have in my pla coded RGB values fo...

Re: MULTICHARTS 8.8 BETA 1

Arnie,

Can I ask if you're finding the beta stable and whether you'd install it for a live trading system at this stage ?

Thanks
