Start date for data in a chart

I have data for ES #F going back to Jan 2005 (verified by "edit data" in quote manager). When I open a chart and specify a start date of Jan 2005 to the present, the bars actually start at Oct. 2005. The chart is a 2401 volume bar chart. What's even stranger is that when I open a 343 volume bar char...

Thanks for the quick reply.

Unless I'm reading the chart wrong, am I correct in assuming that NONE of those data providers have any more tick history than 50 days?!?! I'm hoping to find a source that can provide ticks back to 2001 or so.

Anybody have any other suppliers I can try?

historical data source

2 questions: 1. I'm using volume bar charts and am wondering what kind of historical data I need to do backtesting. Some providers provide tick data back only a few months but provide intra-day (minute??) data back several years. Is intra-day data all I need to build a volume bar chart or is it actu...

TJ,
Thanks for the reply. I've done all of those things but still not getting anything. Like I said before, the event log indicates that data is downloading but the price bars never appear.

"no data" when trying to open a stock chart

I'm able to open futures charts but when I try to open charts for IBM, it says "establishing connection" and then "no data."
I'm able to add the symbol to the quote manager and connect it and the event log looks like it's downloading data but I always get "no data."

Thanks

You're right. I selected "edit data" and the data starts at 2005 so obviously that's why it isn't plotting anything before that.

I guess my next question is, do I need to import the data into Quote Manager from the database file?

Thanks

Agreed. But I can open an ES chart in TS that has 10 years of data and it only takes a couple of seconds. It's taking me 10 minutes or more in Multicharts. I have the feeling I must be doing something wrong.

takes a LONG time to open a chart

Hey, New registered user here. 1. It's taking more than 10 minutes to open an ES#F chart. Whether I use ticks, minutes or volume bars it doesn't matter. I'm running the 1050 version on a Pentium 4 with 2G of ram and using eSignal's delayed data. Is this amount of time to open a chart normal? 2. Even...
