Aside from the issues with the tick by tick tests, know that with the FX market, the data is completely different from source to source and it's... supposed to be like this. You cannot back-test with a data feed other than what your broker supplies you as your live trading data feed.

I use Malwarebytes and have never had an issue.. The scan I just finished didn't populate any alerts. I also scanned with Kaspersky and Windows Security Essentials and didn't receive any alerts.

CQG is filtered but is fine. Zenfire is great unfiltered and reliable data. Rithmic is even better.
IQfeed is good quality, but it's expensive, annoying symbols, and unnecessary with most modern brokers who offer free integrated data.

I agree that an Ask has to be there for a buy to be filled. Just because multicharts' point bars simulate a gap between each bar, doesn't mean there's no orders there. When you place a limit order(this price or better) and MC back-tests assumes that you always get the most price improvement possible. This will usually happen if there's a gap in price.

No, you cannot build a tick based chart from time based data. Data is probably the most valuable commodity in this business and it's completely overlooked by most. Good tick data is pretty hard to come by... and you usually pay a lot for it.

I'm also finding that while turning on "Fill Limit Order when trade price goes [Xpoints] beyond limit price" my fill in a back-test will actually be XPoints away. Weird?..

I use the PocketCloud app to access my trading machine remotely. It works pretty well for both the phone and the ipad. Still... difficult with the phone because of the size. A MC app would be great. I had an issue with a smaller renko chart so I pulled up a renko bar with significant size to look at the issue clearer. "Downloading missing historical data" was checked on both. They're both on live data. After confirming this, I reloaded the data in one and copied/pasted the window into the other. The issue didn't change.

To show what you want is simply an illusion that many new "traders" fall into.. There's no data behind what you're requesting. No bids/asks/trades. If you don't see it on these present range bars, it isn't there. You can't trade what isn't there... You can create an overly optimistic test result off...

I understand TT's patents. This just seems like a silly workaround. I'm not a DOM trader anyway, I just figured it should be looked at since there are a lot of institutional firms that do. (I'm guessing MC would like to be on that map?). Henry, I use the 64bit version. Update feature doesn't work.

As I said, I can't reproduce it either. As soon as I restarted MC (crashed with error report that I sent in the next day), that issue removed itself. It's happened 2x with me in the last month. It's been on a session break with a significant move. That's all I have for you on that one...

The manual trading tab needs to be looked at. At the restart of the platform and/or the restart of windows, it still defaults back to the 1st account on the list. I have this data disconnect issue as well. On one computer I run whatever current release you have and on another computer I run whatever beta you have. Currently 8.5 release candidate on both. To close Multicharts: I click the red X at the top right corner. Nothing else. To open Multicharts: I double click the icon on my desktop. Nothing else.
