Using marketposition in indicator

I wanted to use alerts in signal but it does not work. So to get around this problem I decided to create a indicator which alert me when there is buying/selling opportunity. But the indicator must know whether it has a market position before they can advise. But the problem is that I cannot use marketposition in indicator.

Please elaborate. Have you used the Alert reserved word in your code? Have you turned on the alerts for your chart in Format->Strategy properties->Alerts tab?
