DDE Indicators

I am using excel to generate some indicators. I then use MC to read specific cells as symbols.

1. I have this problem where MC seems to read 3-4 times the same cell even though the data does not change at all. This generates a lot of duplicate data.

2. One indicator is a cummaltive volume. It just keeps going up and up. TS 2000i used to be able to 'chop' up cumm volume into discrete time chunks. Does MC have anyway of doing this.

MultiCharts recalculates an indicator each time when the price is changed even though the data hasn't changed in Excel.
