How to chart expired contracts using eSignal

Postby Kaos » 11 Jul 2007

Hi All,

I tried a search but couldn't find the answer.

How do I chart an expired contract. I'm using the latest MC beta with eSignal data.

Eg: SPI 200 in eSignal
Current contract symbol = AP U7-SFE
Old June 2007 contract symbol = AP M2007-SFE

I can plot the current contract and I can plot June 2007 in the eSignal charting program so I know the data is available on the eSignal server.

I go to Quotemanager in MC
I can Add Symbol -> AP U7-SFE and chart the data in MC fine

I cannot add the symbol AP M2007-SFE
The error message I get "No matches were found"

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Paul

How are you able to find & plot this symbol in eSignal software?

I just did a search and it returns nothing. Take a look at thecreenshot attached. Please comment.

Hi Andrew,

I assume eSignal must have a list of active symbols and I guess MC is referencing that list.

The way the Sydney office explained it was the data is on their server but ....
-> it won't appear in a symbol search as it is expired
-> it won't appear in a quote window as their is nothing to quote
-> but you can chart the data for the expired contract

I have attached a picture of the chart that I created this morning.

Is there a way I can override Multicharts from checking the active symbol list and get the expired contract data from the eSignal server?

Regards,
Paul

In this case you should add symbols manually: Symbol > Add Symbol > Manually...
