SEF File import

Postby frugalmule » 12 Mar 2014

I was provided a strategy by a friend that I would like to try in multicharts. I have been following the instructions here https://www.multicharts.com/trading-sof ... ng_Studies for how to import it but am having trouble. This screencast http://screencast.com/t/SqQzFQrhrccd illustrates what I get when I try to replicate the instructions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

frugalmule,

you need to open an instance of PowerLanguage Editor to import/export code. You can do this out of Multicharts via File -> New -> PowerLanguage Editor or by using the shortcut on your desktop.
Next in PowerLanguage Editor you go to "File" and you will see "Import" and "Import Read-Only". If your file is a SEF-file choose the latter and go to the file location. The rest should be simple from there.

I see, so I cannot modify the original code for it in that editor.

Is there a way to decompile it?

Hello frugalmule,

SEF File is Source-compiled Study Protection file. There is no way to decompile such file.
If you need to see the source code of the study - please ask your friend to export the study into a pla file for you.
