Advice on Data Feed

Postby shanemcdonald » 24 Sep 2014

hi

I like rithmic, but lack of historical tick data is a hassle for backtesting and optimization.

How is TTnet with multicharts ? I already have that feed.

I used cqg before, but I had lots of memory issues when using cqg api.
The memory issues stopped when I switched to rithmic.

In a related question. I have ttnet set up with SC. Is exporting tick data to use with MC a possible workaround ?

thanks

Shane

The best external datafeed for MC is without a doubt IQFeed. You have 180 days of historical tick data with it.
If SC allows you to export data in ASCII format I don't see why importing that data into MC wouldn't work.

Hello shanemcdonald,
How is TTnet with multicharts ? I already have that feed.
Coming soon, but there is no ETA at the moment.

Yes, you could export data into ASCII and import it into MC QuoteManager.

Thanks Arnie, I appreciate your input.

Thanks Andrew, this is good.

I will give the ascii a try again.

I tried IQ and TT and prefer IQ for a number of reasons. I can get free Rithmic data, but still prefer to pay $100 a month for IQ. My two cents.

I might add that I am using Barchart.com for futures, ETF's and index data and I am pleased with the service. I did find it confusing at first but now I am used to it. Barchart.com support have been good.

The new CQG connection seems to be working perfectly. Before this, I was anti-CQG.. now I think its the best option we have with MC.

Hi
Thanks for the info about barchart and IQ.
IQ can be expensive ?
Barchart has an excellent futures website and I wondered about their service.

I had problems with CQG on MC previously, as I had more memory issues wth CQG API ,
so I switched.

ITs good to hear CQG is better now with MC.

I liked them on other platforms with their generous historical tick data.
