SYMBOL MAPPING  [SOLVED]

Postby houss75 » 07 Apr 2015

Hello,

I have some problems when I turned on the "automate order execution" on a custom future that I created based on the symbol MINI (mini FTMIB).
So I have this message "no security definition has been found for the request" when I turned on the "automate order execution" on the chart.
And when my trading system send an order to IB, I have this message "Unable to place order due to incorrect symbol parameters. Please configure the symbol mapping"

So when I go to the symbol mapping i have the following parameters on my custom future:

Symbol name: mini
root:mini
Type:call
Category:futures
exchange:IDEM
description:[!MINI_11VOC^HMUZ] FTMIB MINI
Expiry:6/19/2015
strike:0

So on global symbol mapping I have:

-chart symbol: MINI;custom futures;IDEM;interactive brokers
-broker symbol:MINI;futures;IDEM;interactive brokers

Thanks for your help.

Hello houss75,

You need to map your custom futures to the individual futures you want to send orders to. Please see the Symbol Mapping Guide to learn how to do that.

Hello,

That's mean that I always need to update the mapping at expiry of each contract?

Correct. When the symbol changes, you need to map the new one.
