Parabolic SAR Issue

Postby desire » 01 Dec 2015

Hi,

With reference to ParSAR, for signal, I set "Max number of bars will reference" to 60; for indicator, it is Auto. The results will be difference.

If I change the indicator reference to 60, the result would be the same. However, it does not represent where the common ParSAR is calculated.

Is there any way to match the value of signal from indicator if I set the indicator to Auto?

Thank you.

In the Wiki,

there is an article called:

Hi TJ,

Thanks for your feedback.

I did read this article.

1. To set the number of bars that the signal will reference:
- In Maximum number of bars study will reference the default value is 50 bars.

2. To set the same value for the indicator:
- Under Max number of bars study will reference select User specified and enter the amount of bars (which is 50 bars).

So, both output value would be the same.

But my question is, to set the Max number of bars to any specific number, the output value would be different from where ParSAR is commonly calculated. If I input the bars as "Auto" in Indicator, it would be no such problem, however, there would be a matching problem between Signal and Indicator value.

Is there any place to input Max number of bars as "Auto" in Signal?

Or any solution to the above?

Thank you.

Hi TJ,

I attach a snip image from Excel file to compare the ParSAR output results:
- MultiCharts with 60 bars reference;
- MultiCharts with Auto reference;
- TradingBlox.

MultiCharts Auto reference is quite similar to TradingBlox result, so I reckon that this is where "ParSAR is commonly calculated."

To set 60 bars, 5 bars or 100 bars reference, the output value is quite different from Auto.

Thank you.

You have to be more detailed in your description.

What are those columns of numbers? 60, auto, tradingblox?
Which is indicator? which is signal? what are what????
What are those numbers? Reversal? BUY/SELL prices???

Do you have a chart?

Of course the output would be different. (I thought you have read the article in post #2)
The only time they can be the same is if the value in Auto is the same as whatever value in your input.
