How do I overcome this problem?

Postby TJ » 23 Mar 2008

I have my MC connected to IB.
Data Server Mode is "Online" and "download missing data".

I want to call up an old chart (ESH8) for review.
The contract is expired, but I have been tracking this contract daily, so I know I have the data in the computer.

I created a chart... the chart status line says "No Data".

I opened QM, and noticed the eventlog says:
TWS error message... No security definition has been found for the request.

How can I overcome this problem? anything short of stopping everything and change the Data Server Mode to Offline ?

Shouldn't there be an option for me to request a chart without having to download missing data all over again?

How did you request history for this symbol? Was it 'to...from' or' bars back'?

Regards.

I requested ESH8, 4 days back from March 8, which I have been tracking this symbol with these resolutions, therefore I know I have the data in the computer.

of 1m chart: came up ok
of 5m chart: came up ok
of 10s chart: came up No Symbol
of 49 contracts volume bar chart: came up No Symbol

I also tried 1d chart, which I did not track in this resolution before. The chart came up no symbol.

TJ,

Check the data for this symbol in QuoteManager. Right-click the symbol, go to Edit Data and specify Tick in the Resolution field. After that click Load to check if you have any ticks collected for this symbol (both volume bars and second bars are based on ticks).

The reason I'm asking you to do so is that if you have minutes or days for a symbol, it does not mean that the tick data will be there as well.
