ASCII MAPPING & etablishing connection

Postby nuno-online » 07 Dec 2016

Hello
I use Ascii mapping for my scanners (MC64 10.0 build 13626)

Often, when my scanners are running and i want to see my charts, i have "establishing connection"

I have to wait many minutes before to see my charts.

can someone tell me why?

thank you

Nuno

Hello Nuno,

Is the data eventually loaded?
How many instruments do you have in the pre-scanner and watchlist?
What is the data range on the scanner and on the charts?
What is the resolution of the data in your files - is it 1 day?

Nuno,

What is the total size of all files you are getting data from?
How many data lines do you have in each file?

Nuno,

How long does it take to load the data ("Establishing connection") once you open the workspace?
Can you see this message only when you load the workspace for the first time or when you switch the instruments on the charts by clicking them on the scanner as well?

I have exact the same problem, too.
The situation is as follow :
I have 2 workspace, workspace_B is duplicated from workspace_A, which only have 2 ascii instruments in it.
I take workspace_A as a backup. And I play things in workspace_B, such as test some study/indicator, change instruments.
Suddenly workspace_B become "establishing connection" and charts will never display.
I tried removing all study and indicator in workspace_B, no work.

The workable solution is to close whole multicharts and re-open it.
But it happens very often and really annoying while developing strategy.
Hope here comes some solution for that.

Hello robinheck,

What is the total number and size of all files you are getting data from?
How many data lines do you have in each file?
Are you changing any of the symbol settings / the data file before this behavior appears?
Have you tried waiting for some after "establishing connection" appears? Is the data eventually loaded?

1. less than 30MB
2. I don't open file directly. I have imported the files in QM as symbols. All data is small that I can open them in 5 sec in normal situation.
3. Yes, it does happened after I change symbol settings. Such as change time frame or session setting.
4. I have tried waiting for 3 hrs. No data loaded.
