Why MC doesn´t load more data?

Postby andriuking » 17 Dec 2016

Hello.

Sometimes I have observed than MC doesn´t load more data since determinate date in minute data.

For example, If I take data from TS for E-mini S&P500 futures continuous contract (@ES) I can obtain the chart for last year without any problem (see attachment 1 daily).
daily.png
(30.44 KiB) Downloaded 913 times
However, for the same chart, If I click the option to built from minutes it only load until 03/06/2016:
daily from minute.png
(25.84 KiB) Downloaded 913 times
The screen doen´t show any message (loading data, backfilling...), none. Is like the complete series had been charged correctly.

Also I have checked than I have the complete data in mi TS Platform, the problem isn´t from TS, and data source is correctly configured in MC.

I have the same problem loading data from IB some days ago.

¿What could be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Andrés.

Does TS allow other platforms to fully access their historic data?
Could they be limiting the access to only 6 months of minute data?

Daily and minute are 2 different set of data.
Minute data is collected and processed by your broker data feed while daily is coming from the exchange directly.
The fact that you have more daily data than minute is completely natural.
What is important here is to know if TS allow other platforms to access their fully historic data. I they do, then you should be able to have in MC the same length of minute data you have in TS.
If not, then for sure something is off.

Thanks Smoky, but the issue is with TS, not IB. With IB I had the same problem but with FX data. I think than IB doesn´t provide continuous futures data. I think than in IB you have to built it since normal contracts.

Thanks for your response.
I don´t think than TS has limitations about data because I can download it directly to txt file. Also I was checking and I didn´t founs any constraint about data download.

Thanks, I suposse it becuse I can charge daily serie.

I think there aren´t any restrictions, so I didn´t found any about searching in TS and forums.

I think is a connection problem because MC and TS, and the data than I plotting in MC is because has been downloaded previously in my MC local database.

When I´m going to MC QuoteManager, see this:
Quotemanager.png
(76.54 KiB) Downloaded 886 times
All TS symbols than I have mapped previously appears like 'connecting', but it never manage to connect. Some IB symbols are ON and are correctly connected. For any reason TS is not connecting, but I don´t undestand why.

My TS version is 9.5, not 9.05, but MC doesn´t let to choose another. I have MC platform updated, I did it some weeks ago.

I have managed to solve it.

The connection with TS was failing. I did the next steps

- Reboot computer
- Run MC in administrator mode
- Open Quotemanager window
- Add new instrument from TS Datasource than I didn´t have in my local database. Doing this, TS will executed since Multicharts (TS window appears to login). Login it

And all working perfectly!

Thanks to all for your help!
