Hi,
rather than assume the answer to this is no I thought I would ask first. I just installed MC 64 bit. Everything went great except for one thing. It uses a 64 bit Global Variables dll. I just discovered that the 2007 MS-Access database program I use to communicate with MC can only use the 32 bit dll. Is there any way around this other than going back to the MC 32 bit version. I have also posted on the database forum to see if they have a 64 bit version but I would prefer not to upgrade the database program yet.
Thanks,
John
Any way for MC 64 to use a 32 bit dll
Re: Any way for MC 64 to use a 32 bit dll
So it seems that an upgrade to MS-Access 2010 (office 2010) or up may be the only solution as the quote below suggests. I am wondering if anyone has done this and how it worked out with the 64 bit Global Variable dll? I would also need a text to speech reader to immediately voice anything placed in the clipboard.
The other option is to fully automate my trading system but I am not sure if I can trust it's ability to read the market as well as I can at this point. However just this week I have made some significant improvements in that area and I may start working toward that later this year.

IIRC, Access 2010 was the first version to have a 64-bit version (and all subsequent versions come in both 32 and 64 bit versions)
Of course, the general recommendation is to use the 32-bit version, but if you cannot get a 32-bit version of the DLL, you may have no choice. Note that this means that you'll have to use the 64-bit version of all other Office products: you cannot mix 32 and 64 bit versions.
Re: Any way for MC 64 to use a 32 bit dll
Hello John
I had a similar problem when I upgraded to the 64 version. Now instead of using the GV for the communication between MC and Excel, I transmit info using a text file and CSV string.

Re: Any way for MC 64 to use a 32 bit dll
Hi Martin, Yes, I have done that with the el collections as well as GVs. I am now working toward full auto-trading which creates less need for communication between an external program and MC. At the same time today I will be pricing MS-Access 2016 64bit as well as Office 2016 64bit (with MS-Access 64bit included). I can't predict my final decision at this point. There are outside factors involved as well.Hello John

The proper solution is described in this link.

It involves getting the 64 bit Microsoft Access and putting a PrrSafe command in the definitions so it can use the MC 64 bit dll.
