What does this error message mean?

Postby firemag » 01 Nov 2017

I am trying to place orders (both manually and automated) on two symbols on a GAIN Capital demo account. I get this error message:

"The order cannot be placed: no instrument-specific reference data for symbol KC-MZ7 has been received."

I can place orders on other symbols just fine in the account. Both the symbol definition and symbol mapping are set up for KC-MZ7.

What is the issue here and how do I fix it?

Hello firemag,

Do you have this instrument in your OEC/GAIN Trader for your demo account?
Are you able to place orders for it there?

Thanks, Henry, that was it. I hadn't even installed OEC/GAIN Trader since I was just using their plug-in via MultiCharts. But once I installed it and looked I found that they instruments were missing. ICE/IPE exchanges were not enabled. GAIN added the exchanges to the account and the symbols are now accessible.
