" Data Range : Bars Back " Doesn't work.

Postby wilkinsw » 21 Mar 2018

Hi,

I would like to use the bars back, data range option under instruments setting to prevent the accumulation of large memory heavy charts.

However, it seems there is a maximum number of bars the chart will load before it gives up (less than requested).

If I manually specify start and end dates I don't have this problem.

I'm using MC 11.0 15566

I request 30k bars:
no bars error 2.PNG
(20.53 KiB) Downloaded 377 times
But it only gives me 17k. No matter what I put in over 17k, it returns 17k.
no bars error 1.PNG
(32.44 KiB) Downloaded 377 times
If I manually spec dates:
calender more bars 2.PNG
(20.4 KiB) Downloaded 377 times
I am now able to exceed 17k:
calender more bars 1.PNG
(26.57 KiB) Downloaded 377 times

Hello wilkinsw,

That is expected behavior. When using “bars back” request on intra-day resolutions - the history will never exceed 91 days, even if your data provider supplies it, or you have more data in the database.
The limitation is applied to avoid overloading the data providers' with requests that cannot return data (infinitely going back to 1900 for ex.).
In order to load the desired data range – please use the Days Back or From-To request types.
