How does one keep custom colors?

I like to switch my background in a custom color. So far I have not found a way to keep the custom color as a default custom color in MC.
I create the custom color, select "add to custom colors", it appears in one of the small squared at the bottom of the color chart, but the next time I open MC it is gone.. seems that it is only saved as a preference for a specific chart? Is there no way to create some default custom colors and save them for future use so they are there every time I open a chart?

After you change the background colour, make sure that you check 'Use as Default' option.

This does not work.

I just created 3 new custom colors, clicked 'Save as default", closed MC and reopened the chart- 2 of the colors are gone.

When I opened another chart, no custom colors are visible at all.

The useful feature would be the ability to set a few custom colors and have them every time you open any chart on MC
