SA or AA mode

Postby auato » 16 Oct 2019

Reading the wiki it’s not perfectly clear for me that’s why I’m asking you the following point. I’m using two algorithms running over two different charts and my broker is IB. Both systems trade the same symbol. They also use OCO orders (as I am using setstoploss and setpercenttrailing for both). Very often they open positions in opposite directions i.e. one opens long and the other opens a short position. I tried one time both systems in SA mode when they were opening two different and opposite positions for the same symbol and I experienced something wrong which I’m still studying. Looked like they were a little bit confused for all OCO orders activated for both the different positions maybe due to Interactive Brokers which manages by itself the OCO orders.
In general what is the best way you recommend for the Autotrading mode in a similar situation? I would like each chart manages the own trades with the own OCOs independently, if possible.
Is the chart in AA mode the only responsible for the OCO management?

Thanks

Hello auato,

Each chart sees and manages his own orders only. SA mode is easier to understand and manage, it is less confusing than AA mode as your auto trading engine and chart positions are matching.
I would recommend you to study the following information to learn how trading from multiple charts on the same instrument works:
