Re: OANDA - Cloudflare (Stuck)

Postby Hemmo » 24 Nov 2020

I am having the same CloudFlare issue as reported by rsaranga for logging onto MC14 via OANDA, including the Image that he/she posted to the Forum.

Points to note:
- Using Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Data Center
- I appear to be able to correctly log onto the OANDA Practice account charts but not the Live account.

Please help. Thank you.

I have it to! I chatted with Oanda and they indicated that you need TLS 1.2

Hey gpw797,

Does that mean you have resolved your login issue?

I have checked the 'Internet Options' on my PC for backtesting & development and on my VPS for Live market trading. I already have "TLS 1.2" checked in the checkbox.

If you managed to resolve the issue, could you please share your steps taken? Please feel free to include screenshots.
Thanks so much.

The TLS 1.2 is not stopping us on the Client Side, it will need to be fixed on MultiCharts Server Side.

After Oanda closes the existing users with the weekly feed at 1700 EST, all MC Users will not be able to login until this is fixed.
I tested it on previous MC versions, that won't help. Basically, earlier this week an extra layer of protection was added to Oanda via CloudFlare, not everyone has noticed yet, but they will come Sunday 1700 EST.

I hope MultiCharts can create a solution that does not require a pop-up window and logging in every now and then. I never got that working on my computer because the Internet Explorer pop-up never opens.

Other trading platforms simply allow you to copy/paste the OANDA API key in their software, and automated trading and data download is then possible without having to login or being reliant on Cloudflare's protection of that login form.

Hello JoshM, you may want to add Oanda.com (and Cloudflare, just in case) to your Allowed/Trusted/Safe Sites, it should give you the popup from Oanda.
The Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) is a startup process on Oanda's side.
With automation, the last thing you would want is a disconnect that is awaiting your response (and even worse if you can't see it asking)

The Multicharts' Team is actively looking into this (the CloudFlare Loop), they have stayed in contact with Oanda and I am confident they will fix us up.

I find it a little disturbing that MC didn't notify users when they discovered the broker connection was broken. A broken connection obviously affects all users that use that broker and may have open trades ongoing with that broker that may be affected.

I agree there should have been more notification, this is real money at stake and trying to manage automated trading positions in Oanda Desktop doesn't cut it.

This login process is overly cumbersome, I'm glad I don't have to enter my login credentials every time with CQG thank God.

Support is closed,
I have a 1 week gap in my charts 11/24/2020 to 12/2, 1440 minute charts
Anybody have any idea how to force download of data?
I tried to:
1) change the date to display 11/24 to today---> got the same chart no changes and no attempt to download in the quotemanger
2) tried reloading 1 week back of data, no effect
3) tried reloading 2 week back of data, no effect
4) tried to create a 1 minute chart and tried the above reloads, no effect
5) Entered .rld glob into command line to reload globally, no effect
before I delete my multiyear minute forex data to get up to date, any ideas?

1- I would wait another day, or two, for backfilling to be sorted; deleting existing data to get up to date will not presently work!
2- Alternatively, download MultiCharts on another computer and see if you are able to get historical data.

Oh Dear!

If still not backfilling, please try this:
1- Open a new separate chart Build from Minutes; 15 days back, in addition to your main decision-making chart.
2- Refresh the new 15 days back chart data; should backfill.
3- Once the data is updated, Flush Cached Data to Database under File. Your main chart should refresh automatically with 24/11 to date data.
4- Do 1 to 3 for every instrument you have charts for.

Hope the above helps.

Khalid

Dear OANDA users,

We have received updates from OANDA regarding the issue with the CloudFlare DDoS Protection System blocking OANDA connection in MultiCharts.
They have confirmed that CloudFlare have rolled back some changes made before and the connection in MultiCharts must be working now.
Thank you for your patience!

In Europe the Cloudflare connection to Multicharts works from two days ago, but until this moment I don't get data neither real time nor historical backfilling.
Also Reload don't works, neither in chart nor in workspace (in workspace never did it before in MC14).
