Signals are not calculating

Postby vmodus » 19 Feb 2021

MC64: V14.0 Build 21357

I have applied some signals/strategies to a chart. However I cannot get any signal to calculate on any chart. All signals are verified and I have even tried the built-in signals, but nothing works. This has been a problem for the past two or three weeks. I upgraded yesterday, but the issue persists.

Any help is appreciated.

Real trade? or Backtest?

What symbol?
What is the chart resolution?
Which built-in signal did you try?

No signal works, regardless of data stream, workspace, chart, or instrument type. There is no Strategy Performance Report, no trades shown on screen.... nothing. This happens on all chart types, timeframes...... It is as if the signal is not even there.

I've never seen anything like it.

Re: Signals are not calculating  [SOLVED]

Okay, Svetlana was able to help me resolve. It was a total noob mistake and I'm not a noob. Somehow my MaxBarsBack got set to 500 (I never go that high....I must have accidentally set is as default) and the number of bars on the chart was not high enough. Anyhow, I posted the solution here in case it helps someone in the future.

So to resolve:
  • Check the number of bars on your chart
  • Make sure is greater than the "Maximum number of bars study will reference" (in Strategy Properties > Properties)
  • Set the 'Maximum number...." to less than the number of bars
It should be set close to the minimum your strategy/signal requires, to conserve memory and processing.
