Error tick by tick

Postby scalp2000 » 08 Mar 2010

I have a problem with the tick by tick graphics.
First I can not see the data taken from a historical series.
Second if you plot in realtime (upticks-downticks) the difference is at most 1.
How is possible???

Thanks to all

from a distance, looking the info you have given, there is not much people can do to help you.

the most I can guess is, your data provider does not supply historical tick data.

Is the same for openecry or zenfire!

Try it yourself in a tick by tick graph:
plot1(upticks-downticks,"Differece");

have you checked to see if either supply historical uptick/downtick data?
I don't think they do.

Try it yourself in a tick by tick graph:
plot1(upticks-downticks,"Differece");
press [F1] in MultiCharts,
the User Guide will pop up.

Look up the definition of these keywords:
upticks
downticks

When you talk about ticks,
Do you want to know the difference between ticks (min price movment) or ticks about VOLUME ?
Because there is a big difference in the definition of ticks as price or ticks in Easylanguage considering volume.
If you want to know the difference between upticks and downticks (considering volume), you can't calculate it on a tick chart but on a volume chart. For a tick chart you MUST use the definition "volume" and NOT UPticks and DOwnticks.
If you consider this, the difference from a single price and the next one is very often equal to 1, because the price moves in single step from a level of the book to the next level, so the difference is very often equal to 1, and it's not an error in ticks data, but in your consideration of "ticks".
