Bullstock:

I am currently running MC 5.5 Release (Build 2723) and NT 6.5.1000.15 Live with IB Trader Workstation TWS 903.

Using MC with five minute candles and NT with 60 minute candles.

Going strong!

When you say don't know why, did you not get an error message?

I use IB as my data feed and broker.
TWS: Build 901.3;
MC: verion 6.0 beta2;
NT: version 6.5.1000.15

With my IB simulated trading account connected, both charts in MC and NT can be updated. BUT, it can't activate autotrading with MC with both opened. When NT is CLOSED or DISCONNECTED, autotrading is back to normal. Why is that??

In TWS API usage, only one trading application (client id #0) at a time can monitor positions. The other applications generally can place orders and receive market data, but cannot get positional feedback. Some platforms only work when they're id #0, and since both can't be #0, that may be the issue here. If supported, try setting one or the other to another client id number.

Does anyone know how to do it with MC or NT?

You can not change the client ID for NT

Autotrading uses clientId= 0. You can't change it. It is hardcoded.

Does it mean that we can't autotrade with MC while NT is connected unless MC has a version that can set the ClientID other than 0?

That's pity.

Go to NT account connection set up for IB and set the clientid to something other than 0. This may work with newer versions of NT 6.5 and 7.

No, this is actually backwards sticking strictly with what you said you wanted to do... it's only client id #0 that can read back positional information. All client ids can place orders (unless the platform itself has a limitation) - they simply can't monitor the position (something you typically want to do with autotrading unless it's "entry only" and being managed elsewhere). So typically, you would make the platform that's going to be autotrading id #0 (MC in your example) and make whatever other software use another id.

Modern NT does have an adjustable client id (http://www.NT.com/webnew/suppo ... rokers.htm) but bear in mind that they recommend leaving it at 0 because only 0 "works" in the way most people expect - the other ids are placement/data only.
