Postby Dave Masalov » 01 Mar 2011

Dear users,

Please find attached the latest TS API update.

MC and QM should be closed before performing the update.
Just unzip the archive and run Updater.exe.

This update fixes the data issues with TS version 8.7 and higher.

Ran Updater after unzipping to a temp folder and just got an empty window opens headed "Updater". A few more instructions are needed.

momentum,

You should click on Update in the bottom right corner of "Updater" window. When you see a message "DONE", please click Close.

Can you please describe the "changes" or "fixes" that this update addresses?

Also, can we get a break down of how much historical data I should be able to download using TS for each of the following:
Forex
End of Day
Minutes
Ticks

Futures
End of Day
Minutes
Ticks

Thanks,
ATC

Basic changes touched on better data requests from TS - while working with TS 8.8 or later, MC6 would sometime not be able to grab data. It would backfill infinitely, or data would simply not arrive. This was addressed in MC7. As for history, you should be able to receive whatever TS provides - i.e. whatever you see in TS you should be able to see in MultiCharts. MultiCharts does have a synthetic limitation of 5 million bars per chart, so not all data might be displayed, if you have more than 5 million bars. This was done to prevent users from running out of memory quickly.

You can change this setting in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TS Support\MultiCharts\Shaper\MaxBarsCount - value is 5000000 by default, you can change to 20000000 for instance. Be careful of possible memory overflow.
