Built in Strategy "Trendline LE"

Postby iso » 06 Apr 2011

Hi,

I am trying to use the built in strategy "Trendline LE". When I turn it on it generates an order but as a new bar forms a new order is placed on top of the existing order. So if you are running it on a 1 min chart and 10 min goes by you will have 10 live orders running. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks

That means the strategy conditions are met on every bar - that's why you are seeing an order on every bar. You may have pyramiding turned on in your Strategy Properties (i.e. "Allow 10 entries in the same direction as the same entry", etc). Turn it off, and you should have only one entry.

Also, you are using one signal, which is a building block of a strategy, with the ending LE. LE stand for Long Entry, you might want to use it in combination with another signal that ends with SE (short entry) or LX (long exit).

Under "position limits" in the strategy properties, allow up to "n" is not checked so something else is happening here. Can you guys check on your end to confirm this?

Thanks

Please come to our Live Chat to further investigate this issue. Either the signal or your settings are causing a purchase on every bar. If the conditions continue being met, there is nothing wrong with buying on every bar until your strategy runs out of money.

Yes the condition is met on each bar but the previous order should be canceled if it is going to generate a new order.

It can't be cancelled if it was filled. If you want to close the previous order, use 'sell' to get back to flat.

no the entry order is never filled. an order is placed, a new bar forms and the existing order does not get cancelled as it places a new entry order. so for every new bar it places a new entry order without cancelling the existing unfilled order.
