Supported without-history Data Feeds

Postby khalaad » 23 May 2011

PFGBest, Pat Systems, Rithmic are amongst MultiCharts can-auto-trade brokers / platforms; their respective data feeds are also in the supported data feed category. However, they provide no history data; does this mean:

• MultiCharts can draw charts from these data feeds as it draws a DDE data feed chart; or
• MultiCharts is not able to draw charts from these data feeds?

Thank you.

This simply means that the data feed does not support historical backfill. If you ask for a chart for more days back than you have in your database - you won't see those bars. But, you can draw charts in real-time (like DDE), and (unlike DDE) all data loaded is saved to the local database. If you build up your historical base by collecting real-time data on an ongoing basis, you will have some historical. Alternatively, you can import some historical data that you find elsewhere into the symbols from these providers.
