MC slows to a crawl, CPU pinned at 100 @ 3:55pm everyday

Postby Ulich05 » 25 Aug 2011

Not sure whats going on here but at 3:55pm *on the dot* everyday like clockwork MC slows to a crawl, cpu usage skyrockets and the q/s thing on bottom right of the screen turns red at 2900ish/3 or 6

How do i fix this?

The q/s is showing you how many quotes are in the queue, and how many seconds delay you are experiencing.

There must be another program in your computer taking up the CPU cycles.
When this happens next time,
open TaskManager,
look under the Processes tab,
click on the CPU column,
you should be able to see which process is using the most CPU cycles.

Thanks for the reply, i turned off all the collect rt data in the quote manager (i had 30 some contracts collecting) maybe that was slowing it down.

Over the past few days ive been watching the task manage for cpu usage, it's MC that is rising to 100% and using the majority of the CPU, not other applications. I've had to kill the MC process from the task manager in order to get the machine back.

This is a 3ghz phenom II X4 940 cpu so should be plenty fine for MC.

I'll check again tomorrow and report back.

Ulich05,

Please tell us how many charts, signals, indicators and drawings do you use? What are resolution and data range of your charts? If you are able to reproduce the issue please come to our Live Chat Mon-Fri betwen 6:30AM and 2PM EST.

The quick answer to the above is lots. 6 worksheets, 5-10 charts per sheet, minimum 3 signals per chart so lots.

I turned off collect rt data in the quote manager and only ran 3 worksheets on the close today, MC cpu usage bliped to 10% then went back to the normal 2-3% for me.

the problem seems to be resolved by following the above steps.
