Data Feed Refresh

Postby Laurent » 09 Nov 2011

Hi,

Is there a way to say to MultiCharts you want to get data from the feed each XXX seconds or minutes?

Regards,

Re: Data Feed Refresh

Well, let's try to explain my problem :)

I have subscribed to a eSignal delayed feed (approx 15min of delay).

The weird thing is after waiting for 15min, I got the correct price at the top of my screen (it's refresh every minute, but nothing on the chart :)
MultiCharts.png
Correct Price at the top of my screen, but nothing on the chart
(71.77 KiB) Downloaded 950 times
So after launching Quote manager at 9h20, I got no quote and no errors (but the price at the top of my screen is correct).
Delay.PNG
No Quote
(56.75 KiB) Downloaded 929 times
At 9h45, I got one quote for 9h22... nothing else but the correct price is still updated at the top.
Delay2.PNG
Only one quote
(17.51 KiB) Downloaded 936 times
Looks like a bug?

PS: eSignal 10.6/MC 7.2

Hello Laurent.
Please make sure that the symbol settings are correct in Quote manager->Symbol name->Edit symbol->Sessions.
Also make sure that the Exchange is setup correctly. Quote manager->Tools->Exchange name->Edit->Sessions and Time Zones settings.

I have checked what you say Henry. It's correct.

I think it's a bug from MultiCharts.

The quote at the top of the chart has clearly the correct values with 15min of delay.
But the chart is not refreshed and when it is refreshed has only a few values.

When I check the quotes in the QuoteManager... I see only a few quotes (5/6) per hour.

In parallel, we clearly see it's not a problem of eSignal, I have all the data in the eSignal Software.

Please provide the screenshots of the following windows:
Quote manager->Symbol name->Edit symbol->Sessions.
Quote manager->Tools->Exchange name->Edit->Sessions and Time Zones settings.

Does the problem happen only with the symbol $PX1-EEB ?
Was there always this issue or it has started after a certain change in the software?

Ok let's try to explain my problems (not so easy as I'm french and not fluent in english ;'()

So,
I have not used MultiCharts since 3 months. I had an access to "eSignal Data Access" for 3rd Party Application (Only the feed with delayed data). I was only using the daily/weekly period (so I do not remember this problem before).

I have lose my access to eSignal Data Access (forgot to renew).
Now this offer is not available anymore, I cannot renew it. But since 6 months, eSignal has removed his 3rd party application restriction on eSignal On Demand (Delayed feeds).

So there is no problem on eSignal On Demand, it can be used with MC and works well on daily/weekly period.

eSignal On Demand gives also Intraday data with 15 minutes of delay.
And I was interested to have this data correctly.

I thought there was a problem of refresh yesterday, so I have decided to remove my MC 7.0 and eSignal 10.3. I have reinstalled with MC 7.2 and eSignal 10.6 and I have got the same problem.

In fact the data (O,H,L,C) is correct in the title of the instrument (with the delay), but not in the charts... and the charts refresh randomly and it takes age (1hour/2h) without understanding why.

Moreover, the data displayed by MC are not correct compared to the eSignal software (missing high/low/open or close and quotes) as you can see on this screenshot.

I have also took the screenshots you needed:

(26.49 KiB) Downloaded 917 times
sessions3.PNG
(31.85 KiB) Downloaded 938 times
sessions2.PNG
(26.31 KiB) Downloaded 908 times
And the problem is on every instrument that I have tested.

The Market is closed now, and by reloading the data of the day, it seems I have all the quotes now.

So the problem comes during the "streaming" of the delayed quotes.

I have checked the logs of the QuoteManager, and I have no error, except this one, but it's at 14h37 (and I had the problem since the morning).

MultiCharts gets eSignal data from eSignal data manager.
Please make sure you have a valid account for eSignal data manager, it is running and Reception and Password are OK in its window.
Please also check what you are able and not able to get using this acocunt with eSignal.

I have a valid account, there no problem with that...
I have only successful connections.

[11/09/2011 04:39:51] Real-time Tick Server Message: Success Type: NOTIFY CONNECT Status: Success
[11/09/2011 11:57:22] Advise Transaction 3810 Tick $PX1-EEB 09.11.11 10:57:22 - 09.11.11 16:30:00
[11/09/2011 11:57:23] Intl History Tick/Minute Server Message: Success Type: NOTIFY CONNECT Status: Success
If that was not the case, I would not be able to get partial quotes.

I have open a case...

Laurent, MultiCharts works properly with standard eSignal account.
Our platform was not designed to work with eSignal delayed data.
We do not guarantee proper work with delayed accounts.
That is why you are not able to see the chart properly.
We recommend you to open a non-delayed account to receive data without delay.

Henry, Thanks for your answer and for having taking the time.

For what I'm doing, I won't open a realtime account (300$ each month for the europeans feeds I want). I will do what I can with what I have :)

As I was saying in one of my tracking comments, maybe you should be more precise on the website and say that only eSignal realtime feeds, because you can have an eSignal standard account or an eSignal Premier account with only delayed feeds! (not only eSignal OnDemand)

Btw, thanks for your support.
