I updated to build 920 last night and although the quotes were coming in , the TWS screen was frozen, I couldn't change tabs. I shutdown and re-started it last night, all seemed ok until this morning, when the same problem occurred. (frozen screen).
TWS ver 918 is stable...

Re: Avoid IB TWS 920 (current version)
Be forewarned !
IB is famous for posting new TWS before it is thoroughly tested.
In the past, they have made changes to the internals without telling their software partners,
causing multiples of charting software to hang.
That is why I always run the oldest TWS until it is no longer supported.
For most users, there is absolutely no reason to constantly upgrade.
Unless you MUST have a new feature in the new version,
otherwise, please, don't fix anything that ain't broke.
A trading system is like a Rubik's cube, if you move one thing, it will impact others.
Trading is a serious business, please do not take changes lightly.

Somehow i got the same feeling from Multicharts from time to time...For most users, there is absolutely no reason to constantly upgrade.

When MultiCharts releases a "test" version, it is called a "Beta".
Please see explanation of Software release life cycle:

Users who do not wish to try out new features are encouraged to stay with the Official Release.

Re: Avoid IB TWS 920 (current version)
In my case, i do not want to try new features. But the reasons to use the beta are Stability and communication between brokers and datafeed. For example i can not use 7.0, because of stability. 7.2 is my only choice because stability resolved. Then i have stop problem with 7.2.
Would it be a good idea if MC can have Official release (7.0) with the updating only on Stability, datafeed, brokers? No new features added.

There is, but not a big difference. Everybody knows MultiCharts never been bug free software.
Re: Avoid IB TWS 920 (current version)
It would be really good idea if we had separate updates for official release related to stability, brokers and etc. New features would be left for beta versions and those who want to test it. I think you still would be able to find enough people who will be happy to go for beta.In my case, i do not want to try new features. P.S. Also, would be nice to have possibility to run two versions of multicharts on the same machine. e.g. MC 7.0 official and at the same time we could play with betas as well.

The topic is about Interactive Broker's TWS software bug, NOT about MC...

MultiCharts is a solid software. That is not possible to update only a part of it.In my case, i do not want to try new features. But the reasons to use the beta are Stability and communication between brokers and datafeed. For example i can not use 7.0, because of stability. 7.2 is my only choice because stability resolved. Stability updates are complex and recommended to most of the users.
You can run full licensed version of MultiCharts alongside with MCDT on one PC simultaneously. It would be really good idea if we had separate updates for official release related to stability, brokers and etc. New features would be left for beta versions and those who want to test it. I think you still would be able to find enough people who will be happy to go for beta.
