Placing trades manually in a chart sometimes doesn't work

Postby jek » 19 Dec 2011

I set up Interactive Brokers to give chart trading a try.

I was able to get ESH2 to turn on and was able to right-click to place a limit order at a given price.

But when I tried with other symbols like ZBH2 it would not place an order.

Dragging a LMT to a price would ask, do you want to place it, but no order would appear.

Pointers?

Hello jek,

Please make sure you have added the symbol from the data source.
In the Quote manager please go to Instrument tab->Add symbol->From data source-> IB.
IB provides this symbol as "ZB MAR 12", but not as "ZBH2". Please type ZB into lookup field, click the "lookup" button, select the correct symbol from the list and click "add".

I did enter it that way to create it originally.

In "format instrument" it indicates the source is IB and the name is "ZB Mar 12".
