Great christmas present. :)

Just wondering, will updating reset the QuoteManager settings like Custom Sessions, edited exchange settings or corrected symbol root settings?

I hope not! If it does reset them, we should at least be given instructions on how to export such settings form the previous release and import them into the new one.

PS: Look forward to using the new version. Nice work.

Skipping identical ticks during calculations

Postby aljafp » 27 Dec 2011

With this new feature "Skipping identical ticks during calculations", does it mean even if volume changes the indicator will not re-calculate ?

i.e for indicators that makes decisions base on volume, we need to specifically turn this feature off ?

I think this feature should NOT be enabled by default.

thanks

Yes, skipping identical ticks means if volume changes, but price is the same the indicator will not re-calculate. Your suggestion will be forwarded to the developers.

That was a problem on an earlier version of MC, if you're using the current MC 7.4 , do a search for "compiling error" there is a fix for it.. (although it shouldn't happen with 7.4)

I was "zapping" between all the project management requests and I saw many not only being reviewed, but also with many votes and some quite old.

Since 7.4 final version has been released and none of those high votes requests were attended, I'd like to know when are you going to start to attend some of them?

Let me highlight the ones that have more votes so far:

MC-34
MC-59
MC-65
MC-124
MC-385
MC-390
MC-421
MC-423
MC-471
MC-473
MC-501
MC-504
MC-520

Just another thought...
What if a tick that is supposed to trigger barstatus(1)=2 happens to be an identical tick ?
If this option is check... will the trigger be delayed ?

thanks

Hi.

Every time I look at the DOM I'm always wishing to have a way to know how many trades were executed at each price.

I don't know if it's possible, but can we have a DOM that record all trades executed at each price, something similar to the attached image?

With a tool such as this we could easily see which prices are generating more business and knowing that, we could act in a more suitable way, depending naturally of our own trading strategy.

Regards.

In previous versions, MultiCharts would remember the location of detached charts placed on multiple monitors. Now MultiCharts just stacks the detach charts on the primary monitor every time the workspace is opened. I must then drag and place each chart to its correct monitor and location.

I don't understand why this behavior was changed. Is there any way to change it back?

That's strange since all my detach charts continue on the monitor on which they were at the time the workspace was saved.

I'm glad that the auto-fill menu now works with capital letters, but I don't like that it doesn't remember any more the last command you've used. Previously, when you had used "StdDevPAnnualized", you only had to press 's' and the auto-fill went to the "StdDevPAnnualized" function. Now, when you press 's' the auto-fill goes to the first (alphabetically) reserved word or function that starts with an 's'. This way, the recently used function or variable has to be retyped and retyped.

> Can we get that behaviour back, while retaining the usage of capital letters?

Perhaps the auto-fill suggestions can then also be turned off for numbers and in the Inputs and Variables sections, where it's more hindering than productive.

Hi.

I'm having trouble with plotting text on a subchart.
The limits are set between 0.80 and -1.00, meaning that all text plotted above 0.80 and below -1.00 cannot be seen on the subchart.

Is there a way to expand the visible subchart area? I need to add 4 more text lines and I just can't find a way to make them visible since they fall outside the 0.80 and -1.00 range :(

I get wrong volume data using Zenfire data.
Open a daily chart for FESX0312 (same for FDAX0312 / FGBL0312 ) and add the standard volume and volume today indicators.
While the volume today indicator matches the volume displayed at the status line, the volume
indicator differs from both.

Maybe it dont understand it, but why dont you change under Format->Scaling->User defined
the Maximum and Minimum values so that it plots all your text.

I'm constantly changing the charts scaling and I never thought on changing the indicator (subchart) scaling.

Shame on me... :P

No problem here with the detached windows on a two-monitor setup. I'm also running Windows 7 64bit Home edition. Does it also happen if you create a new/clean workspace?

Hello Fibdax.
Please install the following updater to fix the issue:
1. Close MultiCharts AND PowerLanguage Editor
2. Download the following zip archive onto your machine and unpack it to a new folder.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27918922/MakeGC ... 155_74.zip
3. Run Updater.exe, click on Update, then when you see message ‘DONE’ click on Close. MultiCharts and PowerLanguage Editor should be closed while performing the update.

Regards.
Fernando
Hello Fernando,

Thank you for your suggestion. We are planning to add Volume Histogram (displaying volume at every price level from the beginning of the session) to DOM. It was even presented on the first drafts. The downside of such functionality is that it may not work correctly with all brokers.

What about an option to use the broker or a separate data feed (when available) such as eSignal or IQFeed to display the volume? This way we could easily circumvent the broker's faulty volume.

Fernando

finally did and it is a total bugfest. installed and it hung on compiling indicators. rebooted and launched and got the "you are alread logged on etc..." got past that, loaded a chart and memory error crash ola.

greenroomhoo,

If you have a lot of custom studies, compiling them can take a while. To avoid long waiting time uncheck Compile Studies check box when installing MultiCharts.

"You are already logged on" message may appear when last MultiCharts session was terminated incorrectly (you restarted the computer).

As for the memory error crash, could you please be more precise? How many charts, bars on charts, studies, scanner windows you had open? What is the resolution of your charts?

Please try to disable MultiCharts log files if they are enabled:

- close MultiCharts, Quote Manager and PowerLanguage Editor;
- download and run the following reg file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26968921/AllTracesOFF.reg
- restart your computer.

If the problem persists and can be easily reproduced, please come to our Live Chat Mon-Fri from 6:30 AM to 4 PM EST so we can connect to your machine remotely and collect dump files for investigation: http://messenger.providesupport.com/mes ... pport.html

After registration I cant start MC, QM, Portf. Back Tester! I see for short time the MultiCharts.exe in task-manger, but it disappear immediately.
I can start only PowerL. Editor and 3D Optim. Charts.
I did a lot repair, install, uninstall, uncheck Compile Studies check box when installing MultiCharts and so on. Its possible to update a old MC 6.1.3605.400 version?
The only error I get is from Portf. Back Tester: see screenshot

I did, but still everything the same as in my last posting.
Should I "remove"/ "repair" new installation of MC, after the installation of the runtime components files above?

Why can't we, in offline mode, have access to the historical orders on the chart?

If all orders are registered in the Order Tracker, shouldn't MC be able to plot on the charts the historical orders?

Regards,
Fernando

Hello Fernando,

Thank you for your suggestion. We are planning to add Volume Histogram (displaying volume at every price level from the beginning of the session) to DOM. It was even presented on the first drafts. The downside of such functionality is that it may not work correctly with all brokers.
Take in your consideration the option to add a sound when an order is filled so if I'm not watching the market, I'm alerted from the sound of the execution of my order.
This option should be activated or disactivated by the user from an option tab setting.
