Supported MultiCharts Brokers

Postby JoshM » 12 Jun 2014

There are a multitude of brokers to choose from when it comes to trading with MultiCharts. Several are already listed on the supported brokers page, but that list is currently not complete. Therefore, let's make a community overview topic of all MultiCharts brokers!

Broker connections
To learn more about broker connections in MultiCharts, see the following pages:
  • Supported brokers; also includes an overview of which types of orders are offered per connection.
  • Supported market data feeds; most brokers already offer market data, but specialised market data feeds also have their uses and often more features.
  • Broker profiles overview; a Wiki page with links to the different broker profiles available in MultiCharts.
  • Order Types; a wiki page detailing the different available order types for each connection.
Disclaimer
  • This is not a thread about good or 'the best' brokers nor does it contain recommendations (for discussing brokers or broker connections, please use another topic).
  • Do your own due diligence before opening a broker account.
  • The order of the list holds no value.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Brokers listed below are grouped together based on the type of connection they offer. Brokers that are 'official' brokers for a certain connection (i.e., non-introducing brokers) are marked with an asterisk (*) :

Brokers - AvaTrade
Brokers - CQG
Brokers - Dukascopy
Brokers - Interactive Brokers
Brokers - IWBank
Brokers - LMAX
Brokers - MB Trading
Brokers - PATS
Brokers - OEC
Brokers - Rithmic
Brokers - TT
Brokers - WeBank.it
Brokers - Other/not specified
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
If you know more brokers, please add them to this topic. And if there is an error in the list, let us know. I'll update this post periodically with the newly mentioned brokers.

Thanks MAtricks, I've added that one to the list.

* * *

I've also expanded the list with the brokers that are listed on the MultiCharts broker page. In the previous version of the post I called that the 'official broker list', but that probably only adds confusion (especially for traders new to MultiCharts).

Now, with all brokers in one list, it's also easier to see which one we've already added and which ones are missing.

This is great.

I've had accounts with a couple of the IBs under your "not specified" list:

Cannon Trading is an IB for OEC.
Mirus now uses Continuum for data and clears through Dorman.

Thanks for clearing that up. Is there a separate Continuum connection coming in MultiCharts (could not find anything on the Wiki), or does Mirus Futures connect through the CQG connection to Continuum?

I asked recently and was simply told no Continuum is not currently supported. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46222

When I asked Mirus I just got standard emails telling me Multicharts is not currently supported and to move to NT.
Dorman offer CQG, Rithmic and TT so this response was enough to make me find a new broker :)

RJ O'Brien should be available through CQG.

Hi Josh,

Great post! Here are a few additions:

FuturePath - an Independent IB that can clear through 7 FCM's. Focused on professional traders and funds with low commissions, and strong tech.
RCM - an Independent IB that can clear through a handful of FCM's. Focused on managed futures with value-added services, and strong tech.

Which FCM you choose determines which order/data API you can use. This is a partial list... I'm only mentioning Rithmic and CQG (which is soon to be replaced by Continuum, under a murky cloud of silence). While it's not complete, I do believe this info to be correct:

FCM...........MC API's supported
RJ Obrien - CQG
Crossland (acquired by Wedbush) - Rithmic, CQG
KCG (acquired by Wedbush) - Rithmic, CQG
FC Stone - Rithmic, CQG
Dorman - Rithmic, CQG
Advantage - Rithmic, CQG
ADM (acquiring Vision) - Rithmic, CQG

Also... in theory, the best way to do this is to start with Rithmic and CQG's websites, look up their FCM partners, and then look up the IB's that clear through those FCM's. However, I have found through extensive conversations that there are FCM's who offer Rithmic but don't say so on their websites, or in Rithmic's website. Not sure why.

There is no conspiracy in this fact. Most Stable API post #7:
We are going to add support for the new CQG API by the end of the year (prior to COM API suspension). It will require an update for MultiCharts.

Hello bjornc,

Please make sure you are running MultiCharts 9.0 (build 11213 or 11210) in order to be able to connect to CQG. Follow these instructions to configure the connection: data, broker.

I trade through CQG.

My MC is version 9.0 (Build 11210).

I notice that 9.1 Beta uses the CQG Continuum API.

Silly question, but what CQG API am I on now on 9.0?

Do I need to tell my broker (Marex) if it's changing??

Many thanks,

Will

MultiCharts 9.0 is using the COM API.
Since MultiCharts 9.1 beta 1 CQG connection works via WebApi.
Old demo accounts created for COM API (which was used previously) will not work.
You need to contact your broker and request a new WebApi demo account.

Live accounts should work OK without any additional adjustments from broker end.
As for the Multicharts configuration – you need to change the default demo server to the live one (wss://api.cqg.com:443).
You need to do that for both broker profile (MultiCharts->File->Broker Profiles->Manage->CQG->Edit) and data feed (QuoteManger->Tools->DataSources->CQG->Settings).

Thanks Henry.

I've also just been advised by CQG that unlike the COM API, the Web and FIX API services are restarted on weekends.

Just thought that might be useful to know.

Banca Sella (https://www.sella.it/banca-online/trader/index.jsp), an Italian broker, provides a plug-in (https://www.sella.it/banca-online/trade ... plugin.jsp) to connect its proprietary data feed to Multicharts.
I am aware that another Italian broker, Directa (http://www.directa.com/en/), offers support for Multicharts.

Hello

I am alone in lobbying so that the broker Teletrader can propose an API compatible with Multichart?

http://www.teletrader.com/products/

Price list :
http://proweb.ttweb.net/pFree/pricelist ... wPackage=1

I am very satisfied with their service, their data live are of good quality and not too expensive. I did not test them as a broker, but only as a data provider. (ex: about 50€/month for future YM level 1 with SC)

The only negative is that they do not cover all the markets.

Market overview, a useful tool : http://www.teletrader.com/

Hi,

you should remove AVATRADE from the list... I'm in chat with them for around 10 minutes just to receive this final comment   : "I apologize, I thought you meant Multi Account Manager.
Multicharts, we do not provide."

By the way PLEASE can anyone tell me if is there any CFD broker for multicharts..... It would be interesting to just test strategies with small sizes...

Regards,

David

Hi David,

The only two brokers I have personal experience with that trade CFDs are Interactive Brokers and Lmax. Both seemed fine They might be good for testing strategies but I have not tried. I don't trade them. Perhaps someone else can comment. IB's SP500 CFD seemed to match the movement in the E-mini closely.
