Ghost DAILY bar problem

Postby cdf » 03 Nov 2013

I think the daily bar is not calculated in my case.
There are always ghost daily bars. Please see the attached pictures for detail.

My time zone is (UTC+09:00), and I am using Exchange time(EST) for charting.
My local time: Nov 4, 11:00
Exchange time:Nov 3, 21:00, So there should not be a daily bar of "Nov 4".
I think Multicharts .net calculate daily bars incorrectly in this case.

The problem can be confirmed with MultiCharts .NET Version 8.8 Beta 2 (Build 8071), or Version 8.7, in a 32bit Windows 7 destop PC.

The Data feed is LMAX(a demo account). Any way, the same problem was there when using Avatrade.

The result is also wrong in scanner windows if the resolution is "daily".

Hello cdf,

Have you added the instruments manually or from the data source?
Please attach the screenshot of sessions for USD/JPY (MultiCharts->File->New->QuoteManager window->double click on USD/JPY ->Sessions tab).
Go to QuoteManager -> Tools -> Data Sources -> LMAX -> Settings -> make the screenshot of this window and upload it.

Hi, Henry,
Hello cdf,

Have you added the instruments manually or from the data source? .
I used "from the data source", with the default settings and changed nothing.
Here comes the screenshot.

1) Please make sure your PC time corresponds to the selected system time zone.
2) Close MultiCharts and all of its processes.
2) Go to "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\testapi.lmaxtrader.com".
Delete all files from this folder.
3) Start QuoteManager only. Go to Tools -> Data Sources -> LMAX -> Settings -> uncheck the option "Cache downloaded quote files".
4) Right click on USD/JPY -> Clear cache.
5) Rename or delete USD/JPY.
6) Go to Instrument tab->Add symbol->From data source-> LMAX->Forex->USD/JPY.
7) Close QuoteManager and all of its processes.
8 ) Start MultiCharts and plot a daily chart for USD/JPY.

Please do the same steps for all problem symbols (you can highlight multiple instruments to do bulk changes).

Henry,

Is point #1 really necessary? Very troubling to me if it is. I trade a variety of markets around the world so setting my PC time to the market timezone is obviously not possible. I had thought the session timezone as defined in the instrument properties via the quotemanager would always be applied to the instrument - is my understanding wrong? My understanding of how a session was applied using its own defined timezone was a big reason on why I chose MC over a year ago. I hope it wasn't a mistake....

Having said that, I have yet to notice any of these problems due to my PC being set to local time but trading markets in Hong Kong, Europe and USA - each with their own defined timezone in their respective instrument properties.

With kind regards,
MK

Hi Henry,

I did all just as you mentioned except changing my PC's timezone,
nothing changed.
I am using other softwares, so I cannot change the timezone.

and, same problem is there when using Avatrade.

what is the problem exactly?
Have you confirmed the problem at your side?

MidKnight, cdf, you have misunderstood my reply. You do not need to have your PC time set to the exchange you are using.

In Windows OS you can specify the timezone you want to be utilized by your system and the system date/clock. There was a lot of cases when the system date/clock did not correspond to the selected time zone. For example the time zone is set to London (GMT) time, while system time is set to New York (GMT-5) time. This can cause data issues in MultiCharts.

You can have any desired time zone selected for your Windows System. Please make sure your Windows date and time correspond to current date and time for the selected system time zone.

cdf, MultiCharts bar time stamp is the bar close time and date. As the session for the instrument ends on the next day the following behavior is correct:
My time zone is (UTC+09:00), and I am using Exchange time(EST) for charting.
My local time: Nov 4, 11:00
Exchange time:Nov 3, 21:00
So the chart will have a daily bar with the date Nov 4, time 17:00.
