Oanda Connection Woes

I am having significant connection issues with the Oanda broker, which seem to have gotten worse over the past 1-2 weeks. The connection will now drop 1-2 times daily, and it seems particularly a problem at EOD when instead of closing out the position I'll get the connection dialogue and the trade is left hanging over night:

This is despite the fact that I have been receiving bar data up until that point. Further, I have changed my signal to now close out the position 15 minutes prior to the US market close but with the same problem.

I am using a legacy Oanda practice account as a prelude to live trading.

How can I troubleshoot this issue please?

Also, as an Oanda partner why is MultiCharts.NET still using the legacy REST API and not the REST-V20 API? Any plans to incorporate that? Surely it would be better - the situation now seems to be that you need to ask Oanda specifically to create a legacy account that you can use with MC.NET.

We are planning to incorporate the support of V20 OANDA API , but there's no ETA yet.

Hi Angelina,

This patch has not resolved the issue.

Was this patch for Multicharts.NET version 10? I have: Version: MultiCharts .NET64 Version 10.0 Release (Build 13630) running on Windows 10 Enterprise on the Azure platform.

Again, I have a connection issue to Oanda:

1) Automated Order execution turned on
2) Tick data received (some times for several hours)
3) At signal generation the trade fails to be sent OR a trade is sent and the corresponding exit orders fail with: 'No connection to OANDA trading system'
4) the Oanda login dialogue box appears and no further market data is received
5) Restarting Multicharts.NET seems to fix the issue but obviously the damage is already done

I have tried running the Oanda fxTrade UI side-by-side but this make no difference.

Can you please help?

I am sorry to hear that.
Please upload the Log files with the Feedback tool after Step 4 (before platform restart, please). We will investigate this issue.
