can't connect to eSignal 12.12.5365

Postby wzero » 18 Sep 2019

After I upgrade to eSignal 12.12.5365, I can't connect to eSignal data source. The error log is always "eSignal History Tick/Minute Server Message: Success type: NOTIFY Status: Invalid Username or Password". My username/password is actualy correct and my eSignal Data Manager tray icon is green and "Password OK". If the password is wrong the eSignal DataManager tray icon should be red.

Hello wzero,

You need to search for winros.ini files on your PC and correct the password there. Then restart all MultiCharts processes.

The password in winros.ini file is encrypted, I can't change there. However, I set username/password in eSignal Data Manager, the tray icon is green and it displays "password ok". So it's not eSignal Data Manager(winros) issue.

These are the values you need to check, they are not encrypted:
InternetUserName
InternetPassword

Make sure to edit both winros.ini files in:
C:\Windows
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\

I found WinRos.ini in C:\Windows it's encrypted, I found another winros.ini in AppData it's plain text. However the password is correct. I set the username/password in eSignal Data Manager dialog. The Tray icon is greed it means the password is correct.
I copied over old version eSignal Manager binaries from DM folder. It's a workaround for this issue.

xueaaron, you need to change InternetUserName and InternetPassword to the current values in winros.ini even if they are encrypted and save the file in two locations:
C:\Windows
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\

Hi, Henry:

Yesterday, i have both Mulitchart-Anna and Esignal-Guy remote on my PC but still can not solve the problem. I use the latest version of Esignal. Both password in winros.ini is encyrpted. It looks Data Manager rewirte or update winros.ini file automaticlly change password back even we change Internet Password.

Today, i try another method. I uninstall the latest version eSignal 12.12 and to install a old version 12.11 which Anna copied on my PC. it works now after i install old version of Esignal. I can see the password in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\winros.ini is not encryted now, but the password in C:\windows\ is encrypted.

I will stick to the old version at this moment as I do not know if i install latest version, the problem will happen again.

I guess the latest eSginal 12.12.5365 changed the way to encrypted all password in winros.ini file to enhance security. Multicharts may be still not compatible to this new behavior.

Dear customers,

The recent changes of the eSignal software that resulted in the issues with eSignal data in MultiCharts have been addressed in the latest release of MultiCharts.
Now if you decide to get back to using the newest version of the eSignal app it will be required to input the user name and password for your account in QuoteManager -> Tools -> Data sources -> eSignal -> Settings. After that restart MultiCharts completely making sure that no processes with MultiCharts in Description are left in Task Manager -> Details or Processes tab.
The newest release of MultiCharts can be downloaded here: https://www.multicharts.com/download/

Henry/Anna,

My version is Beta 14.0 (build 18735). I have an identical problem described. the esignal data feed window seemed to be working, but the quotes manager window was giving error message.
I did change password that was encrypted in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\winros.ini and that fixed the issue one time. When I reopened the Muticharts for next time use - it had the same problem.
Has any definitive solution been found for this?

Davit
