Port 9000's clock is fast

Postby MKlein » 24 Sep 2007

Timestamps from port 9000 are about 3 minutes ahead of the correct time. Could you fix this please?

What do you compare the port 9000 time with?
The National Physical Laboratory time signal:

www.npl.co.uk/time/obtain.html

or indeed any other correct clock.

Hello,

I'm not sure what server time you are talking about. If you are talking about the timestamps on the bars - those are the timestamps generated by the source where the tick initially comes from - before it gets to our server.

Also, TS Server has its own time - like any other computer. And no two machines would have exactly the same time. There will always be discrepancies.

Regards.

As I wrote, "Timestamps from port 9000".

In that case, is it possible that you could ask your data providers to correct their clock?

Of course, and there's also a small time lag in internet transmission. But there's also such a thing as the correct time. For discrepancies to be measured in minutes isn't really acceptable in financial data, is it?

It's a small problem, but it's unnecessary, and it would be so simple to correct at source.

M Klein

Hello,

The problem has been confirmed. We are going to adjust the time on Saturday, so on Monday the time will be correct.

Thank you for drawing our attention to this issue.

Regards.

Hello,

We have adjusted the MCFX server clock. It should be showing the correct time now.
