Point data in Mapped ASCII?

Postby sparkz » 03 Jun 2007

Is there any way of getting a sort of point data (I mean not the regular kind but a homebrew!) into QuoteManager via mapped ASCII data?

I've tried all the different formats and it won't pick up the OHLC data, only the price.

This is the format of my data:

"Date","Time","Open","High","Low","Close","Volume"
20/04/2007,16:00:00,1.3592,1.3593,1.3591,1.3591,7
20/04/2007,16:00:02,1.3590,1.3592,1.3590,1.3592,3
20/04/2007,16:00:07,1.3593,1.3593,1.3591,1.3593,13

Anyone tried this?

Thanks

It is not possible to map home brew point data, only tick and volume bars.

Thanks Kate.

Is there any chance of the QuoteManager input options being extended to allow this sort of feature at some time in the future?

Or is there any other way of getting price data back in MC via a third party product that you know of?

I guess I'm going to have to pass the data back via DLL to fake it. The downside of that is the date/times won't match up.

Anyone else tried this sort of stuff?

I can offer you the following workaround: please try to map your files as tick bars and when plotting this data in MultiCharts select tick bars instead of points in the FormatSymbol window. And though it will be called tick bars in reality it will remain your point data.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did take a look at that and it does work. What I'm really after here is for my own point data as I use a different formula.

The DLL will do for the moment even if it's a bit convoluted.
