RAM optimization with Portfolio Trader / Global Variables

Postby Gaetano » 17 Nov 2017

Hi all,
I have already pointed out the huge pc RAM usage during Portfolio Trader sessions using Global Variables intensively
(viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51069&p=127456)
To save RAM and avoid the yellow alert popup, I have successfully tested this RAM optimizer, MemBoost:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Memo ... ster.shtml
it doesn't request installation (just unzip on hard-disk and run).

I have tested on Portfolio Trader during the backtest with the following result
(1st value without MemBoost / 2nd value with MemBoost):

PT backtest at:
- 0% = 2,5 / 2 GB
- 25% = 6 / 3,3 GB
- 50% = 8,1 /3,8 GB
- 75% = 10,5 / 5,1 GB
- 95% = 11,9 / 5,2 GB
- 99% = 12,2 /5,5 GB
- 100% = 12,4 / 4,9 GB
as you can see it saves almost 50% of the RAM.

The above results suggests that the Portfolio Trader / GV memory management could be optimized at source. Please kindly take it into consideration for further releases.
Any additional hint on how to save RAM with Portfolio Trader is welcome.
