QM Adding Metastock Symbols

Postby gautama2 » 20 Jul 2007

Hello,

when adding MS Symbols (not manually) they all go into stocks category.
I cannot choose if i want then into Index or Futures etc. With eSignal symbols or Interactive Brokers i can choose. Metastock Symbols need to be added manually symbol by symbol to be able to choose category. Is there somthing i did not see or could you pls. change this with the next version.
I cannot put in thousands of symbols by hand :(

Best regards

Why doesn't stock category work for you? It is pretty much the same for charting except futures have some special fields that could be used in PowerLanguage.

I like to sort my symbols in categories and can't do it with metastock symbols but with the other ones.
only metastocksymbols all have to be stocks no matter what they really are?
Sorry i dont understand that.

Why do other data sources have this possibility then? :)
Why does QM have a filter to sort between stocks, Indexes, Futures etc.?

Regards
Robert

Robert,
There is a technical limitation. The metastock data file doesn’t have symbol categories. So we put all symbols in stock category. You can create the symbols in correct categories manually.

You are welcome. I want to note once again that you can add the symbols manually and select preferable category.
