Is there a new beta released yet ?
I see a new install file 1109 dated Sept 03 2007, but when I run it the version comes up 1050 in the splash screen. Please clarify this for us.

When you run the downloaded 2.1.976.1109 exe file it will first uninstall the older version which is currently installed on your computer. So first you need to remove the current version (by choosing "remove" during deinstallation). After that, you can install the new 2.1.976.1109.Is there a new beta released yet ?

I am aware of how to uninstall and re-install MC since I have owned it and used it for almost 2 years. My issue is after I un-installed version 1050 and then re-run the 1109 install it puts 1109 correctly on my machine, but your splash screen always said 1050 while 1109 was installing. I just was pointing it out. This is confusing to someone trying to install a newer version.
