Start date for data in a chart

Postby flier6 » 02 Oct 2007

I have data for ES #F going back to Jan 2005 (verified by "edit data" in quote manager). When I open a chart and specify a start date of Jan 2005 to the present, the bars actually start at Oct. 2005. The chart is a 2401 volume bar chart.

What's even stranger is that when I open a 343 volume bar chart and also specify Jan 2005 as the start date, the bars start at Sept 2006 (even later than the 2401 even though they're both being fed from the same database).

Then when I open a 49 volume bar chart with Jan 2005 as the start date, the bars start at Aug 2007.

Is there some kind of a limit on the NUMBER of bars that can be displayed in a chart? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yes, there is a 1000000 bar limit, that's why the start changes whenever you change the resolution. You can easily overcome this limitation:

ABC is right.

There is a limitation on the number of bars allowed for a data series.

There is a registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TS Support\MultiCharts\Shaper MaxBarCound. When MC is installed the value equals 1000000 bars. You can change this value in the registry to a larger one.
