Cant re-position minimised Charts

Postby miltonc4 » 27 Jan 2008

Ver2.1, allowed any minimised chart to be dragged to any spot on the workspace(Right click, drag ,to anywhere on workspace)
This was most convenient, allowing groups of minimised charts to be placed together, some at top of workspace(EOD), and others at bottom of workspace(Intraday),etc leaving scalping charts open on Screens

Ver3.0, automatically opens the minimised chart, whenever it is clicked, rather than allowing it to be moved to another spot on workspace

This makes it very difficult to find a particular minimised chart if they are all spread out along the bottom of the workspace, with no way of either changing their order or location

Is there a setting to fix this ?

Milton

Hello Milton,

This is a known bug. Our engineers are working to fix it.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Regards.

Hi Marina

Ver3.0.1137.3363 has partly fixed the problem
Whenever the workspace area is changed, all the minimised boxes then go along bottom of screen
Set up workspace charts, minimise some charts and position the minimised boxes at preferred locations on screeen, save workspace,THEN make workspace smaller by dragging any side in or out,all minimised boxes then go to new position along bottom of screen

Regards
Milton

Hi Andrew
Don’t quite understand what you are saying here ?
Do you mean that its acceptable to MC that whenever the workspace is re-sized, all the minimised boxes (carefully placed in preferred positions) will go along bottom of workspace ?

This never happened in previous versions of MC and these features from older versions would ordinarily be available in newer upgrades

It’s a pain to have to re – sort these minimised boxes, every time they go to the bottom of WSpace
Maybe I have misunderstood comments

Regards
Milton

I'm hoping that with version 3 MC remembers where to maximise a window to after a restart. In V2 if you close MC with a window minimised it would maximise somwhere random after you restarted.

Yes it is correct behavior. It is simply different. It is standard implementation. It will work this way until we have time to change it.

MC 3.0 does it properly.

Hi Andrew
Unfortunately this is not fixed

I have two screens, one version of MC Ve r 3.0.1200.4785,streched over the two screens and saved.
Whenever the stretched size of Multicharts is altered, all minimised charts automatically go along bottom of screens
This never happened in Ver 2.1

On the two screens there are 5 open charts for scalp trading
Minimised at at top left is 4 minimised EOD charts
Minimised at at bottom left is 6 minimised Intraday charts
Minimised at at bottom right is some other minimised charts
They are placed in order and position so I can go to them quickly at any time of the trading session, and remember them in blocks

Obviously all saved,BUT,as soon as any minimised chart is opened, and then re minimised, they go strait to the bottom
Before long we have all minimised at the bottom, and having to re open, and reposition again to only find they wont stay where they should
This never happened in Ver 2.1

Truly,it’s a real pain when working with multiple charts and unnecessarily time consuming, effecting focus on short term trading having to chase these minimised charts back to where thay should automatically appear ?

Milton

Hi Milton,

This is the intended behavior. However, several customers have already said that the'd prefer having minimized windows save their positions. We will try to implement this bahavior in future MC versions.
