How to exit a second MC

Postby dupl » 29 Apr 2008

Hello,

my computer crashed and I did click two times to start MC, because it took so long time to start...
Now I have two MC "running" but can not exit the second one!

The X of Data Server Mode is not enabled... no reaction. :?:

Thanks

I had to "kill" in taskmanager all MC instances and processes ...

1.
And it is confusing that not all MC processes have a unitary processes name.
E.g.:
tsServer.exe
MultiCharts.exe
QuoteManager.exe
StudyServer.exe

If you have to kill all processes by hand in the Windows Taskmanger it is not end-user friendly.

2.
And it is not clear which processes is disturbing if you want to start a instance of MC... because processes are "hanging"...

Thanks

Hi dupl,

I cannot comment on why you could not close the second MC instance the normal way. If the problem occurs again, please contact our customer support service.

Regarding the processes in TaskManager. Apart from the ones listed above there are also

MCActiveX.exe
PLEditor.exe
TradingServer.exe

All this might seem a bit complicated, but on the other hand this isn't something the users have to deal with a lot.

Thanks.

But here you sad in my eyes a little bit the opposite:
Post subject: DDE Collected data lost after program not responding error

if a process is killed or if the program hasn't been terminated normally is reduntant because it should be self-understandable.
http://forum.tssupport.com/viewtopic.ph ... lacy#18891
This subject has also to do with this problem, or not?

What I watched, there are situations e.g. a OS-Windows crash, or MC crash and than you have problems to start correct MC again, because processes are still running...

You sad: "this isn't something the users have to deal with a lot."

Maybe not a lot (not every day) but from time to time the users has to deal with it.

What do you think? Also other users of MC!

Thanks

MCActiveX.exe
PLEditor.exe
TradingServer.exe
I wish you would make all the process name with MC prefix.
I know I do do not need to use Taskmanager often, but it is nice to have all the programs together when needed.

I think MessageCenter.exe belongs to MultiCharts as well.

I agree that this would be helpful.

Hi guys,

It's a good idea. Thank you. We'll consider it for future MC versions.

Regards.
