Charting of an expired future contract with MC?

Postby LRP » 14 May 2008

Dear Support Team

May i ask you how to get an expired e.g. DAX MAR 08 from IB to MC?
=> if i try, "Waiting for Data...".
The Data must be at IB, because with IB-RealTimeCharts i can get the plot with the expired contract.

Reason: I do like do make a continous contract by adding together the expired contracts. (Further tips are welcome)

Thank you very much for your appreciated help.

Hi LRP,

I tried plotting this symbol in IB and couldn't. Could you please post a screeshot showing a chart plotted in IB in the same resolution that you tried to plot in MC?

Thank you!

Hi LRP,

MultiCharts can only receive ticks, minutes or days from the data providers. If you plot, say, hours, it will try to plot hours from minutes.

What you need to do is to try and plot minutes for this symbol in TWS. If you can't plot minutes, it would mean that TWS does not provide the data necessary for MC to plot anything for this symbol.

Regards.

Thank you Marina, but TWS shows me minute Bars as well like other compressions. So I think the datas must be at the IB-Server. What i not understand why MC 3 do not load those datas.

M3.1beta unfortunately do not get the expired datas like IB-Chart does. I can see no difference to MC3.
Thank you for your response.

Hi LRP,

Tonight/tomorrow morning, we'll release a dll for IB that will allow plotting expired contracts as well.

What you would need to do is:

1. install the dll
2. add the expired contracts (from Data Source -> IB) into QuoteManager again.

Best regards,

Marina
