TL_NEW() -- Christmas Wish

Postby TJ » 03 Jun 2008

I wish MC would draw the TL_NEW() under the price bars and plots.

I know you guys have lots to do, but
I hope we don't have to wait till Christmas for it.

I know TL_NEW() is supported, but the problem is, the trendline is drawn on top of the price bar.

Please see attached for example.

If I want to highlight certain formations on the chart, and I want it to stand out with a heavy weight trendline, it will cover up the price bar, because the trendline is drawn on top of the price bar.

Can you possibly make the trendline drawn on a different pane? say, the most bottom layer, just on top of the background color.

How come I can use TL_New with 3.0.1200.4785?

Also I could draw it anywhere not just from the price bar?

yes, tl_new() is available in earlier version.

yes, you can draw it anywhere you want.

What I wish for is which layer the trendline is being drawn.

i.e. if the trendline happens to locate at the same place as a price bar or a plot, I wish the trendline can appear on a layer lower than the pricebar/plot, so that a thick trendline would not cover the pricebar/plot.

Yes please
I use vertical lines plotted on charts and indicators
It needs the ability to alter the visual order(Bring forward,or send back etc)
which cant be done yet

Thanks
Milton

I need the same function too. My trendlines are blocking the price bars and the visual order function is greyed out.

Is this feature still being planned? Checked in beta 6 and there is no option to plot trendlines behind price.

Thanks.

Ideally I think it would be best if EL code commands existed to change the order on the fly. I am not sure exactly how it would do that. For those who write an outside control program in basic or whatever they could click a button or butons to send GV info to change the view then switch it back. You might even want the plot and trend line to start toggling position once per second during a crossover of the line (best of both worlds). That last idea could be controlled by the EL code without an external program.

I also think the snap should not be associated with this layering. It is a different animal and a change in visual layering on the fly should not effect the target of the snap for any tool (it makes no sense to me to target the snap based upon visual layering). I think that snap would be better controlled by the methods I am suggesting in this thread.
