This program crashes about 5 times a day for me. Anyone else seeing this?

I installed mine last night (Windows XP) and it's been running for 12+ hours straight with NO problems at all. About 15 charts running.

I suspect it may be conflicting with another one of my apps.

I have NT, Esignal, IB TWS, Firefox, and Trade the News Module running.

Try running MC with firewalls and anti-virus stuff turned off. those are what give me the most headaches with apps.
I use IB and Firefox, so I don't think they are the problem.

When is the fix going to be released?

Mine finally crashed today too, luckily I wasn't trading today. We may have to go back to the prev version until the fix is out.

We are now gathering information from our customers on all the possible bugs that 4.0 beta might have. As soon as we have received enough feedback to make conclusions about the bugs we'll estimate the time necessary to implement the fixes and the release date. It should be all done within the next couple of weeks.

Do you always get the same crash message?

What did the exception error message say? If it's different from what flipflopper reported, could you please demonstrate the problem via our remote connection?

Thank you.

Any idea when a beta will be available that doesn't crash several times a day?

Hi SUPER,

When you restart the program after a crash, you will see a dialogue asking you if you want to send the report. You can send us the logs following the prompts of that dialogue or you can go to E:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts\4.0.1440.201 and send us the folder that is called Backup. If it's large (in case there have been many crashes), find the date when the crash occurred and only send us the logs for that particular date.

Marina,

Many thanks for your prompt reply, unfortunately I could not find folder called Backup, I can see Installer and log folder under path you have suggested and under log folder I have following subfolders:
MessageCentre, Multichart,PLeditor, QuoteManager, selfutility, StudyServer, Timezoneupdater,TradingServer,tsServer,WzdRunner. I also carried out folder search but could not come up with a BackUp folder for Multichart purpose.

Could it be possible that the crash happened due to some other program and so Backup was not created, I had Multichart and TWS running at that moment.

Regards
Super

**UPDATE- I believe my crash may have been computer related and not MC related. The AGP port on my motherboard died and the crash occurred while using the on-board video, which wasn't adequate for MC.
I replaced the Motherboard last Monday and am using a good AGP video card and MC ver 4.0 beta worked flawlessly all week.

Hi Steven,

Normally when MC crashes, there will be a Backup folder created in the directory I indicated. Also, if a crash occurs within MC, next time you run the program, you'll see a dialogue window prompting you to send the report.

If an MC-related crash occurs again, please send us the report or logs.

Regards.

why don't you use bugzilla to report bug and crash

Postby zukkaweb » 16 Aug 2008

why don't you try to use an open source software like bugzilla to report all bug and crash? could you save money in feed back.
