backup and restore in multicharts

Postby zukkaweb » 19 Aug 2008

i need to format the pc, but i don't want to lose all my work space, the data that i collected, and all the other settings that i made in quotemanager, portafoliomanager, ecc....

what file we have to copy, whaen i resinstall mc in my pc to be immediately ready to use it?

i made a partition of hd so i could replace the file in easy way.

thanks

ps

tradenavigator has a button that made itself a backup of all this file itself and another that you use for the restore.

I asked about this before... but I was told I could achieve the same with a bat program.

I am more and more enclined to think that one should have a separate platform for trading/automatic trading and for development. This also means that transparent way of transfering/securing data should exist.

Having a versionning system for the development of study would be great as well, but I will let this one for future evolutions

In the short term, I would like to know my options for the following items:
- How to save/transfer windows setup (so that it can be transfered)
- How to save/transfer studies (be individually or as a whole)
- How to save/transfer data and data setup

Regards

- How to save/transfer studies (be individually or as a whole)

MC should have it too.

Hi tcat,
:
- How to save/transfer windows setup (so that it can be transfered)
Save workspaces.
- How to save/transfer studies (be individually or as a whole)
Export them.
- How to save/transfer data and data setup
Copy the three gdb files located at "%allusersprofile%\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts\Databases\"

Hi zukkaweb,

Whenever you make major configuration changes on your pc, make sure you back up all your MC user data: databases, workspaces, studies. Whether or not that data remains intact depends on what exactly you will be doing.
